Adoption Process

Golden Hills Ranch Equine Rescue and Rehabilitation, Inc has an adoption policy designed to
insure the proper placement and health and well being if each and every horse.  Our goal at this
rescue is to work together with you the potential Adopter to create a successful placement, to match
you with the right horse for your needs and the well being of the horse.  We are here for the
betterment of the horses, we believe that everyone deserves a second chance at life and hopefully a
new career with a family who has the horses best interest at heart.
Taking in a horse is a huge responsibility we here at Golden Hills Ranch Equine Rescue and
Rehabilitation, Inc want to make sure the horse you choose is the proper fit for you and your family.

Some things to think about before filling out your application:

You need to look first inside yourself, is this commitment your about to make the best for all parties?
Placement of these horses we would hope would be for life.

Do you understand the expense, horses can be very expensive.  Your cost for adopting a horse is
only the beginning.

Understand there is ongoing costs of worming, vaccinations, farrier, board, hay, other feed,
medications, training, tack, and possibly a very large vet bill at times.

You need to think about what type of horse you want and what you will be using the horse for.  You
need to decide on a breed, gender, age and color.

There is the fencing and shelter and the little whatnot’s one needs everyday.  We can help you with
websites you have good prices on things you may need, the best thing to do is shop around and hit
the sales.

Once you commit to the adoption you need to:

Fill out the application, send it in Golden Hills Ranch Equine Rescue.

The application may seem to much to you but its our way to insure you get the proper horse and the
horse gets the proper owner.  Don’t let it overwhelm you, we are here to assist you if you run into a
problem with it, its pretty simple.  Be honest, if you’re a beginner than say so, we wont hold that
against you.  If your limited in some areas we can teach you or tell you a good book to read on the
subject.  Not everyone knows everything and life is about learning new things.

Then submit your application.
A representative of our rescue will call and verify your information and answer any questions.
We will match your application with a horse (s) that we have available for adoption.  We will send you
pictures via email and information on the horse, or you may see another you feel is a perfect match
and want to come see it.  All visits are done by appointment only.  As you can imagine there is a lot
going on here and  with this many horses there is a lot of work and little time to breathe.
